Our new turn on the Upland Bird Pant replaces the corduroy of the original with extraordinary weather and wind resistant Ventile® cotton. This remarkable fabric begins as the finest, long staple cotton one can find — only 2% of the world’s crop actually makes the cut. After some gentle spinning and doubling — combining two threads — and using 30% more yarn than conventional woven fabrics, it becomes an extremely dense Oxford cloth. All this means that when this kind of cotton comes into contact with water, the fibers, yarns and the weave itself expand together to close up tightly and prevent the passageof water. You wind up wearing something that’s natural, breathable and enduring. Even better, it doesn’t rustle like many tech fabrics do, so that pheasant won’t hear you coming from three fields over. As tough as the Ventile® cotton is, we still add the Cordura® nylon of the orginal pant because we realize you’ll work your way through a nasty tangle of brush if there are birds in play.
