Originally designed by the Alvin Parachute Company in the 1930s and then adapted for combat by the RAF, this jacket was standard issue during the Battle of Britain. Our obsession with authenticity means we got all the details right ------- the rugged leather, the shearling, the gusseted underarms for freedom of movement. The zippered cuffs, a holdover from the days of open cockpit flying, remained even after the planes had been replaced. During World War II, it was such a valued piece of equipment that when shearling supplies were tight and these jackets were scarce, the nighttime RAF bomber pilots would hand them off to the daytime B-17 and Liberator crews each morning. And vice-versa, of course. We’re quite certain you’ll also have a few friends asking to swap their jackets for yours. We doubt you’ll be so accommodating. Made in USA.
Size: 40-46.
